He died on 20 December 1716 at the age of 80 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. He was buried in Kickemuit Cemetery, Barrington, RI. According to family tradition, he was born in Yocumtown, but no such town existed. It may have been an Indian name for Taunton. He may have been captured by Indians at Delaware Bay while with his father in 1644/5 at the age of 8. He was ransomed and returned. He was a pastor of the Baptist Church in Swansea. He was granted permission to work in Rehoboth in 1661. He was one of those drawing lots for the meadow lands in the North Purchase in 1668. See Boyer, "Ancestral Lines," Third Edition, pp. 380-384.
