248. Samuel LUTHER¹⁷⁹ was born on 25 October 1663 in Rehoboth, Bristol Co., MA. He died on 23 July 1714 at the age of 50 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. He was buried in Kickemuit Cemetery, Warren, RI. Samuel was minister at Rehoboth from 1662, ordained 1683, second Baptist minister in Swansea. He was a soldier in Capt. Samuel Gallup's Company under Sir William Phips in the expedition to Port Royal, Nova Scotia, in 1690.
