7. Elijah Darwin LEONARD was born on 17 July 1811 in Granville, Washington Co., NY.⁴ He died in 1888 at the age of 77 in WI. He was a Baptist clergyman. He moved to Wisconsin between the birth of his son in 1838 and 1 June 1840, when he was in Racine, Wisconsin Territory. He may have been the Elijah Leonard living in Pleasant Prarie, Racine Co., WI, in 1842 and in Lorima, Dodge Co., WI, in 1855. He bought land in Kenosha County in 1844.

In the 1860 Census, E. D. Leonard, 48, was living in Bristol twp (Marion P.O.), Kenosha Co., WI. His wife had died. His son, E. D., Jr., was a writing teacher. His son, Charles, 22, was a school teacher. Other children included Chester, 18, George, 15, Sidney, 13, Nelson, 11, Alice, 9, Mary, 7, Ophelia, 2, and John, less than a year. E.D. was a farmer and owned real estate valued at $5000.

In the 1870 Census he was a clergyman, and 1880 Census, he was a book agent. In 1870, his son and three daughters were living with them in Somers. His daughter and grandson were living with them in Somers, Kenosha Co., WI, in 1880.

Elijah Darwin LEONARD and Doratha V. were married about 1833. Doratha V. was born about 1815 in NY or RI. She died about 1860 at the age of 45 in Wisconsin. Was her name Dorothy? Was she born in RI or NY?
