1022. Capt. Jonathan HOLMES was born in 1633 in Stockport, Manchester, England. He died in October 1713 at the age of 80 in Newport, Newport Co., RI.³⁷⁴ Jonathan owned land in New Jersey. In 1673 he held a commission as Captain of Provincial Troops at Monmouth, NJ. He was one of the organizers of the First Baptist Church in Middletown, NJ, where he resided.

He returned to Rhode Island after his father died in 1682. He served Newport as Deputy in 1690, 1691, 1696 to 1700, and 1703. He was Speaker of the House of Deputies in 1696 to 1698 and 1700 to 1703. Sarah BORDEN and Capt. Jonathan HOLMES were married on 20 December 1667 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., MA.³⁷⁴

1023. Sarah BORDEN was born in May 1644 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. She was born in 1644. She died in 1705 at the age of 61 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI.
