510. William SLEAD³²² was born in 1663 in Newport, Newport Co., RI. He died on 30 March 1729 at the age of 66 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. He was buried in Old Slade Burying Ground, Somerset end of Slade's Ferry, MA. Henry Brightman and Thomas Cornell bought the land in Fall River opposite land owned by William Slade in 1678, and that year Brightman began rowing people across the Taunton River (really an arm of Narragansett Bay). William Slade started his ferry service two years later, and the Brightman and Slade families then formed a partnership for ferry service that lasted two centuries. Their service ended with the opening of Slades Ferry Bridge in 1876.

The Slade burying ground is about 250 feet northwest of the west end of the Brightman Street Bridge from Fall River to Somerset, near where the Somerset end of the old Slade's Ferry Bridge was located. Sarah HOLMES and William SLEAD were married about 1684 in Newport, Newport Co., RI.

511. Sarah HOLMES was born in 1664 in Newport, Newport Co., RI. She died on 10 September 1761 at the age of 97 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA.

	vii.	Capt. Edward SLADE³²³ was born on 4 June 1694 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. He was born on 4 June 1694. He died on 5 April 1755 at the age of 60 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. 	xi.	Jonathan SLADE²³⁸ was born on 13 August 1703 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. He died on 2 November 1764 at the age of 61 in Swansea, Bristol Co., MA. They had no children.
