He was baptized on 3 October 1717 in Preston (now Griswold), New London Co., CT. He died in 1783 at the age of 66 in MA. Information on this branch added by Steve Stuart, a descendant. Nathan was made Ensign when his brother was made Lieutenant, October 1751. He was made Lieutenant of the 8th Company, 1st Regiment of troops raised for the expedition to Crown Point. In May 1756 he was made Captain of the 2nd Company of Preston. He represented the town in the Legislature in 1759. DAR Patriot Index. He removed to Worthington before 1768, probably about the time the town was founded in 1765. During that year a bill was passed by the Provincial Congress of Massachusetts "creating the new plantation called Number Three in the County of Hampshire into a town by the name of Worthington. Nathan Leonard was chosen to call a meeting of the inhabitants of the town to elect officers. He was chosen Moderator and one of the 3 selectmen of the town. In 1775 he was chosen as representative to the General Court. He was one of the first two deacons of the church chosen in 1771. Nathan LEONARD and Abigail HERRICK were married on 12 November 1739 in Preston, New London Co., CT. Abigail HERRICK, daughter of Ephraim HERRICK and Rachel FELLOWS, was born on 21 October 1721 in Preston, New London Co., CT. She died on 14 February 1811 at the age of 89 in Hinsdale, Hampshire Co., MA. Nathan LEONARD and Abigail HERRICK had the following children:
