995. Samuel Smith LEONARD78 was born on 29 June 1801 in West Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. He resided in Bolton, Brattleboro, Vt., Millbury, and Worceser. He was a hatter by trade, but in August 1840 established "Leonards Express between Worcester and Boston. He became partially, then totally blind. He had an interest in genealogy and contributed to Vinton's work.

Samuel Smith LEONARD and Adeline Eliza NEWTON were married on 20 March 1824 in Bolton, MA. Adeline Eliza NEWTON, daughter of Haven NEWTON and BETSY, died on 29 October 1859.

John Smith LEONARD133 was born on 28 December 1830. He died on 3 March 1850 at the age of 19 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He went to Brazil with the purpose of introducing the telegraph, but fell ill with the yellow fever and died.
