95. Mary THROCKMORTON was born on 16 April 1716 in Colts Neck, Monmouth Co., NJ. She died on 16 December 1782 at the age of 66 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ. She was buried in Christ Church Cemetery, Shrewsbury, NJ.
Mary THROCKMORTON and Samuel LEONARD were married on 4 March 1734 in Christ Church, Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ. Samuel LEONARD24,31, son of Henry LEONARD and Sarah MORFORD, was born on 29 January 1711 in Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ. He died on 13 May 1790 at the age of 79 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ.32 He was buried in Christ Church, Shrewsbury twp., Monmouth Co. NJ. Samuel Leonard, Jr., was a Justice of the Peace, Monmouth County, for many years. He was executor of his father's will in 1739 and witness to the 1748 will of Job Throckmorton. Abraham, a Negro boy in the service of Samuel Leonard, Esq., was baptized 22 May 1749 at Christ Church, Shrewsbury, and Oliver, another Negro child in service of Samuel, was privately baptized 30 Mar 1752 at Christ Church.
On 10 Mar 1790, Samuel made his will. He left 50 pounds to daughter Mary and 20 pounds to his sister Hughs (Hughes?). He left goods to daughters Mary, Lucy, and Susannah. He left real estate to his five children, viz., Mary, Deborah, Lucy, Susannah, and Samuel Leonard. Lucy Leonard died without issue while her father was still alive. Executors were daughter Deborah Holmes, Joseph Holmes, and brother-in-law Joseph Throckmorton. After their father's demise, Samuel, Mary, and Deborah Leonard sold their shares to Rev. Simon Pyle, father of the petitioner in an 1824 action. The said Susannah Leonard married the said Simon Pyle and had since died, leaving two children named Rebecca and Samuel Pyle. After the death of Susannah, Simon Pyle married Abigail Thorpe and had one son, Simon Pyle, who was under 14 years of age at the time.
When he married Mary Throckmorton, he was Samuel Leonard, Jr. of Freehold, Monmouth Co., NJ. That does not necessarily mean he was the son of Samuel Leonard; but he was the younger of two Samuels then living in Monmouth Co.
Samuel, son of Henry Leonard and Sarah Morford married Mary Throckmorton, and his 1790 epitaph in Christ Church Cemetery in Shrewsbury identifies him as Samuel, son of Henry Leonard and Sarah Morford.
Bill Barton, following information from Stillwell, had this Samuel confused with the Samuel who married Elizabeth Wardell.
Mary THROCKMORTON and Samuel LEONARD had the following children:
