712. Christopher ALMY was born in 1632 in South Kilworth, Lancaster, England. He was born about 1632 in South Kilworth, Leicester, England. He died on 30 January 1713 at the age of 81 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. Christopher was buried in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. He was made a freeman of Portsmouth in 1658. In 1667 he and others bought lands of the Indians in Monmouth, NJ and he removed there. He returned to RI before 1680. On March 5, 1680, he and 7 others bought lands in Pocasset (Tiverton) for 1,100 pounds. His share was 3 3/4 of 30. In 1690 he was a deputy to the Massachusetts Court. On February 27, 1690, he was elected president, but refused to serve for reasons satlisfactory to the Assembly. He was sent to England as messenger from Rhode Island and delivered a petition to Queen Mary in 1698. In 1708, he made his will, calling himself 77 years old. He gave his eldest son William his lands on Punkateest Neck in Tiverton; his son Christopher land on Sapowet Neck and New Jersey; and to son Job the lands in Rhode Island (Tiverton was then part of Massachusetts).

He bought lands of the Indians at Monmouth, NJ, and he lived there some years, returning to RI by 1680.

His will mentions a daughter, Elizabeth, who married John Leonard, son of Henry and Mary Leonard, with children John, Henry, Samuel, Christopher, Sarah, and Ann. (New Jersey?)

He had several slaves. In his will they were to be set free one year after his wife's death.

713. Elizabeth CORNELL was born on 15 January 1637 in Saffron Walden, Essex, England. She died in 1708 at the age of 71 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI.

Elizabeth ALMY was born on 29 September 1663 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. She died on 12 January 1715 at the age of 51 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NJ. Elizabeth was born in Rhode Island. Her father, Christopher, was engaged in coastal shipping. Christopher and family lived on an estate, Passage Point, at the east end of the neck of land between the Shrewsbury and Navesink Rivers, later the property of his son-in-law, Lewis Morris. Elizabeth married Lewis by April 1679. Lewis was killed by one of his Negroes in 1694/5.
