3978. Sir Richard COTTON was born about 1539. He died on 14 June 1602 at the age of 63 in Stoke, Warwickshire, England. In 1563 he built the Combermere manor house, which incorporated the remains of the abbey there. According to dthe Court Rolls of Cmbermere, a joint manor court was held there by Richard Cotton, armiger, seneschel of the manor. The manor of Newhall was vested in Sir Richard Cotton for two portions and in the Fitzwarings for one portion.

Sir Richard apparently lived in Stoke, just north of the City of Coventry, for the last few years before his death in 1602 (Boyer, p. 72). Mary MAINWARING and Sir Richard COTTON were married on 6 January 1560 in Marbury, Cheshire, England.

3979. Mary MAINWARING was born about 1541 in Ightfield, England. She died before 14 June 1578 at the age of 37.
