704. Giles SLOCUM was born on 28 September 1623 in Old Cleve, Somersetshire, England. He died on 12 March 1683 at the age of 59 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. He came to Portsmouth, probably in the year 1638. He and his wife were early members of the Society of Friends. They were excommunicated from the Baptist Church in August 1673. He left a large bequest to the Society of Friends in 1681. He was an early purchaser of land in Dartmouth, MA, as early as 1669. Joan COOKE and Giles SLOCUM were married on 20 November 1622 in Old Cleve, Somersetshire, England.

705. Joan COOKE was born in 1620. She died on 31 August 1679 at the age of 59 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI.

Children were:

	i.	Samuel SLOCUM was born in 1657.
	ii.	Johanna SLOCUM was born on 16 May 1642.
	iii.	John SLOCUM was born on 26 May 1645. He lost himself in the woods near Taunton and died there.
	iv.	Giles SLOCUM was born on 25 March 1647.
	v.	Nathaniel SLOCUM was born on 25 December 1652.
	vi.	Peleg SLOCUM was born on 17 August 1654.
	vii.	Mary SLOCUM was born on 3 July 1660.
