Eleventh Generation

1338. Adam MOTT³⁵² was born about 1596 in Saffron Walden, Essex, England. He died on 12 August 1661 at the age of 65 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., RI. He was a tailor. He took the oaths of allegiance and supremacy necessary to embarking on the Defense 2 July 1635 for Massachusetts. He was a freeman on 25 May 1636 in Roxbury, but he soon moved to Hingham where he had been granted land. With the developing conflict over religion he moved to Portsmouth, RI and was admitted as an inhabitant the first year of that settlement, in 1638. On 12 June 1640 he and others were chosen to lay out lands at Portsmouth. Elizabeth CREEL and Adam MOTT were married on 28 October 1616 in Saffron Walden, Essex, England.

1339. Elizabeth CREEL was born in 1600 in Cambridge, England. She died in 1634 at the age of 34 in Cambridge, England.
