56. Cornelius BENNET was born on 6 August 1766 in Dartmouth, MA. He died on 18 August 1840 at the age of 74 in Warren, RI. He was buried in Wr001, Warren, RI. Cornelius was a master mariner and a sailing master of Old Ironsides. He said that his hair stood on end as he felt the bottom of the ship graze a point of land even as he heard the British sentry on a nearby ship call out: "All's Well."
