He was buried at Lot 654 in North Burial Ground, Bristol, R.I.. He served in the Civil War, as a sergeant with Company B, 1st Regiment, RI Infantry, for 3 months in 1861, enlisting on 17 April 1861, as a sergeant with Company K, 10th Regiment, RI Infantry, and as 1st Sergeant, Hospital Guards, RI Infantry. In the 1880 Census, he was living with his mother and sister in East Providence. His wife, Susan, had died. He had consumption (TB).
