136. James Martin KELLS was born on 16 March 1844 in Claverack, Columbia Co., NY. He died on 14 November 1923 at the age of 79 in Harford Mills, Cortland Co., NY. He was buried in Harford Mills Cemetery. He was referred to as Martin Kells in the 1910 Census. He was drafted from the Cortland, NY, area 17 Oct 1863, but paid the bounty of $300 to have a substitute go in his place.

James Martin KELLS and Mary Jane WILCOX were married about 1867. Mary Jane WILCOX, daughter of James WILCOX and Mary , was born in March 1848 in NY. She died after 1900 at the age of 52.

James Martin KELLS and Mary Jane WILCOX had the following children:

242	iii.	Charles A. KELLS was born in 1872. He died on 2 April 1882 at the age of 10 in Harford Mills, Cortland Co., NY.

245	vi.	Walter David KELLS was born in April 1881 in Harford Mills, Cortland Co., NY. He died in 1953 at the age of 72. He was a farm laborer in 1900, according to the census. According to the WW I draft card, he was a patient at the Binghamton State Hospital for the Insane.
