Fifth Generation

106. Jacob Andrew KELLS22 was born on 14 February 1828 in Churchtown, Columbia Co., NY. Sponsors were Jacob and Margaret Morris (wife's parents?). Was his middle name Andrew or "H."?

Was he the Jacob Kells, 35, of persons liable for military duty, 1864, Livingston?

It appears he was a farmer in Livingston most of his life and moved to Claverack late in life (unless that was another Jacob). In the 1900 Census, he and his wife and their son Jonas were living in Claverack.

Jacob Andrew KELLS and Elizabeth "Betsey" were married in 1850. Elizabeth "Betsey" was born in October 1823 in NY.

In the 1912 Claverack City Directory, he was living with Nathaniel and Chester Kells, laborers, in Claverack. At the time of the 1917 draft registration, he was living with his brother, Henry S., who also appears to have been single. In the 1920 Census, he was a boarder with Minnie Fournier. In 1936-39, he was living at 12 N. 4th St., Hudson, NY.
