Sixth Generation

40. Joseph OLDALE was born on 10 September 1748 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. He was buried on 12 May 1803 in St. Paul's, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.34 He died in 1803 at the age of 55 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.35 Source: Oldale web site: www.geocities.com/Oldale2000/index2.html. Hannah HOUSLEY and Joseph OLDALE were married on 4 January 1771 in Cathedral St. Peter, Sheffield, England.36

41. Hannah HOUSLEY was born before 27 May 1747 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, England.37 She was baptized on 27 May 1747 in St. Paul's, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.34 She died on 28 August 1823 at the age of 76 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. Hannah was buried on 28 August 1823 in St. Paul's, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. Hannah left a will witnessed February 19, 1823, and registered with Chancery December 4, 1823 (assumed she died between those dates), leaving her estate to her children, except for Charlotte, who apparently died before this date. I assume her husband also was dead by then, since he's not mentioned. Nephew Thomas Ellin and William Ellin were executors.

Was her birth date 1750?

Was she a relative of Matthew Housley? Matthew seems to have been the father of Sarah Housley, who married Peter Wigfall, a source of a lawsuit over inheritance that has never been settled. There was a Matthew Houseley, son of Joseph Houseley, born 25 June 1725 in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire. A Joseph Housley, christened 18 November 1688, died March 28, 1777, in Ecclesfield, married Susan Hurst 1 October 1711 in Ecclesfield (see below).

A Robert Housley had a son Samuel, b. June 12, 1745, in Sheffield and a daughter Hannah christened May 27, 1747, at Cathedral St. Peter (IGI #6909644). These appear to be the Father/brother of Hannah.

A Thomas Housley had a daughter Hannah christened January 12, 1754, and the same or another Thomas had a daughter Hannah christened January 12, 1755 at Cathedral St. Peter. William Housley had a daughter Ann christened September 21, 1751, in Sheffield. A Robert Howsley married Lidia Levick February 2, 1740 at Cathedral St. Peter (IGI #6909645). The Housleys/Howsleys seem to have been in the Fishlake part of Yorkshire in the 1600's -- a Jacob Howsley had a dau. Anna b. June 12,1642, for example.

A Joseph Housley had a daughter christened July 1, 1746, at Ecclesfield, Yorkshire. Joseph was christened February 11, 1718/19 in Ecclesfield and buried June 20, 1803, in Ecclesfield. His father was Joseph Housley and his mother was Susan Hurst. Joseph Sr. was christened November 18, 1688 in Ecclesfield and buried 28 March 1777 in Ecclesfield. He married Susan on October 1, 1711, in Ecclefield. She was buried June 30, 1743, in Ecclesfield.
