23. Valentine LEONARD was born on 22 June 1784 in Lexington, Rowan Co., NC. He died in 1818 at the age of 34 in Stokes Co., NC. This Valentine is sometimes confused with the Valentine born to John Michael Leonard and Chatherine Barbara Shoaf.

Valentine LEONARD and Mary RINKARD were married in 1806 in Rowan Co., NC. Mary RINKARD was born in 1781 in Rowan Co., NC. When Valeniine died at age 34, Mary loaded her 9 children and all their worldly possessions in covered wagsons and headed for southwest Ohio, settling firs in Montgomery County. They stayed there 7 years and next moved to Williams Co., OH, in 1833. They followed Indian and buffalo trails along ridges, around marshes, across fords in rivers, and after trying experiences arrived at the cabin of Frederick Miser, who was to become a neighbor. They lived in their covered wagons, with a lean-to built to these covered with tree boughts and skins auntil their new cabins in the wilderness were completed.

Valentine LEONARD and Mary RINKARD had the following children:

+96	iv.	Keelin LEONARD.
97	v.	Charlotte LEONARD was born in October 1813 in Stokes, Pitt Co., NC. She died on 2 February 1891 at the age of 77.
98	vi.	David K. LEONARD was born in 1818 in Rowan Co., NC. He died in 1904 at the age of 86 in Elkhart, Elkhart Co., IN.
