Eighth Generation

1987. Henry Fuller LEONARD⁵⁵⁵ was born on 22 May 1842 in Lowell, LaSalle Co, IL. He enlisted 10 Aug 1861 in Co. C, 42nd Regt., IL Volunteer Infantry, reenlisting in the same regiment in east TN 1 Jan 1864. He was engaged in over 30 battles and skirmishes, among them Murfreesboro, Missionary Ridge, Peach Tree Creek, Kenesaw Mountain, Resaca, Pine Mountant, Rocky Face Ridge, Jonesboro, and Atlanta. During the Atlanta campaign he was promoted for meritorious conduct to the rank of sergeant. At the battle of Spring Hill, TN, 29 Nov 1864, he was wounded in the left thigh. He received his final discharge 10 Jan 1866. After the war,he spent six years farming, then entered the grocery business.

Henry Fuller LEONARD and Sarah J. BRIMMER were married on 31 January 1865. Sarah J. BRIMMER, daughter of Henry BRIMMER and Matilda CLAYCOMB, was born (date unknown).
