419. Calvin LEONARD112 was born on 14 June 1779 in Shaftsbury, VT or Hardwick, Worchester Co., MA. He died on 20 December 1849 at the age of 70 in Henrietta or Birmingham, Loraine Co., OH. He was buried in Birmingham Cemetery, Erie Co., OH. He came alone in the summer of 1816 to Birmingham, OH, bought several hundred acres of land, cleared a small piece, erected a log house, and returned to Cayuga Co., NY to marry Miss Root. He used an ox team and sled loaded with household goods to move to Birmingham. His wife took the stage, but joined her husband at Buffalo for the sled trip to Birmingham. He was an industrious farmer and became wealthy. His was the second family to settle in Birmingham, and his daughter was the first child born there.

Calvin LEONARD and Tryphena ROOT were married in January 1817 in Skaneateles, Onondaga Co., NY. Tryphena ROOT, daughter of Joseph ROOT, was born on 25 January 1784. She died on 20 January 1855 at the age of 70 in Birmingham, Loraine Co., OH.
