He was a very well read man, had a remarkable memory, and kept well informed on the topics of the day. He was very entertaining in conversation and had unique ways of expression -- many of his sayings being long remembered and often quoted. He had a fund of dry humor and in repartee was often very droll. He was a good financier and solid business man, comanding the respect and esteem of all who knew him. Amos LEONARD and Susan TERRELL were married in 1824. Susan TERRELL, daughter of Elias TERRELL and Hannah WARNER, was born on 13 June 1803 in Waterville, CT. She died in 1859 at the age of 56 in IL.
