Fourth Generation

19. Thomas Alexander LEONARD was born on 9 May 1835 in Mo. He died on 1 May 1904 at the age of 68 in Mo. He hauled the first load of material with ox teams to start the town of Salem about 1850. He owned the Gill farm at Meramec at one time.

Thomas was a sergeant in the 48th Missouri Infantry from 16 Aug 1864 to 23 Mar 1865.

Thomas Alexander LEONARD and Lorena WHITSETT were married on 5 May 1859 in Dent County, MO. Lorena WHITSETT was born on 5 November 1841. She died on 2 December 1889 at the age of 48.

Thomas Alexander LEONARD and Lorena WHITSETT had the following children:

+29	ii.	Robert Newton LEONARD was born on 30 January 1862 in Mo. He died on 26 December 1922 at the age of 60.
+30	iii.	Samuel Jefferson "Jeff" LEONARD was born on 19 April 1865 in Mo. He died in November 1957 at the age of 92 in Oak Grove, OR. They moved to Oregon about 1927
+31	iv.	Susanne Elizabeth LEONARD was born on 8 March 1868.
+32	v.	Edward Lafayette LEONARD was born on 3 June 1872 in Dent County, MO.
33	vi.	Abner H. LEONARD was born (date unknown).
+34	vii.	James Garfield LEONARD was born on 8 May 1881.

Thomas Alexander LEONARD and Mary were married in 1891. Mary was born in January 1848 in IL.
