Seventh Generation

1428. Edwin LEONARD¹⁰⁸ was born on 26 November 1822 in West Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. He was a sergeant in Co. I, 27 Mass. Volunteers during the Civil War. He was a Medal of Honor recipient. In the 1850 Census, he was living with his brother Lewis and was a bridge builder. He later became a farmer and lived in Agawam with his family.

Edwin LEONARD and Rachel Angle HUGHES were married on 11 April 1851 in Newark, Essex Co., NJ. Rachel Angle HUGHES, daughter of Owen HUGHES and Catherine ANGLE, was born on 17 January 1824 in Knowlton, Warren Co., NJ. She died after 1880 at the age of 56 in Agawam, Hampden Co., MA.

Edwin LEONARD and Rachel Angle HUGHES had the following children:

1887	i.	Sarah Catherine LEONARD was born about 1852 in Agawam, Hampden Co., MA.
1888	ii.	Amelia Caroline LEONARD was born about 1856 in Agawam, Hampden Co., MA. She was a typesetter.
1889	iii.	Clara Augusta LEONARD was born about 1858 in Agawam, Hampden Co., MA. She was a dress maker in the 1880 Census, living at home.
