He was director and treasurer of the Mutual Fire Insurance Co., secretary and treasurer of the Albany Safe Deposit & Storage Co., President of the Albany YMCA for 5 years, governor of the Albany branch of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, and active in many other civic organizations.

Edgar Cotrell LEONARD and Bessie WOOLWORTH were married on 15 October 1890 in Albany, NY. Bessie WOOLWORTH was born in St. Joseph, MO.
