He died on 25 June 1874 at the age of 80 in Middle Granville, Washington Co., NY. In the 1820 Census, he was living next to Job and had a family of 3 (one child). He died of apoplexy at the age of 80. A report of his death said he was the youngest son of Job Leonard, an aide to General Gates at the Battle of Bennington (Saratoga). (Whitehall Times) The Genealogical and Family History of the State of Vermont, edited by H. Carleton, p. 342: "Eli Bennett Stillson, the ledes son of Abel Jr. and Sarah Wetmore Stillson, was born in the homestead before mentioned 13 Apr 1813 and died at Middle Granville, New York 25 Nov 1873. He married Eliza Ann Leonard, the only child of Henry and Anne Porter Leonard, the fathers of both of whom served with distinction in the Revolutionary War. Henry Leonard was the youngest son of Colonel Job Leonard of Norton, MA, one of the staff of General Horatio Gates, and Anne Porter was the eldest daughter of John Porter of Danbury, CT, who was an artifier throughout the war for independence on the staff of General George Washington. To Eli Bennett and Eliza Ann Leonard Stillson were born four children: Henry Leonard Stillson, John Porter Stillson, George Hamilton Gray Stillson, and Anan Francis Stillson." A note indicates he may have been a member of the family of Timothy Leonard of Granville. Henry LEONARD and Anna PORTER were married about 1810 in NY. Anna PORTER died before 1880.
