When Manassa Leonard and James Leonard exchanged land lots in 1801, the area was part of Aurelius, NY. Part of that township became Mentz, then Jefferson, and then Throopville over the years.

George Bement Leonard has him dying in Michigan.

George Washington LEONARD and Nancy Jane PALMER were married on 8 April 1835 in Wenty or Mentz, Cayuga Co., NY. Nancy Jane PALMER1309 was born on 11 January 1811 in Mentz, Cayuga Co., NY. She died on 14 September 1864 at the age of 53 in probably in Michigan. After George W. Leonard died, Nancy moved in 1842 to Hastings, MI, to be with her sister, Hannah Palmer Covey. She married Milo Ingram 2 years later.

In the 1850 Census, Milo, Nancy, Helen, 12, and John H., 10, were living in Flowerville, St. Joseph Co., MI. Milo was a cooper.
