1115. Horatio LEONARD47,1286,1287 was born on 28 December 1780 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.660 He died on 7 December 1858 at the age of 77 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA. He was buried at Pleasant Street Cemetery in Town Center Cemetery, Raynham, MA.60 He was sheriff of Bristol County, according to the Providence Gazette, when he married in September 1812. He is listed as a farmer living in Raynham in the 1850 Census for MA, living with Fanny Leonard, 55, and Mary Leonard, age 52.

Horatio Leonard purchased Stephen King's right to build a dam across the Taunton River a short distance above the Old Colony Iron Works, removed the dam to another location and build a forge in 1824 for making charcoal iron of scraps and pig iron. In 1827 they commenced making iron with bituminous coal and soon after sold the business (Samuel Emery, History of Taunton, p. 666).

ECL says the last two children were by the second wife. But that would have been unlikely: she would have been 59 by the time she married Zephaniah, and the children would have been born 15 or more years before they were married.

Horatio LEONARD and Fanny WASHBURN were married on 29 September 1812 in Bristol, RI.1288 Fanny WASHBURN, daughter of Nehemiah WASHBURN and Polly PRESHO, was born on 12 December 1788 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA. She died on 22 January 1846 at the age of 57 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA. She was buried at Pleasant Street Cemetery in Town Center Cemetery, Raynham, MA.60

Andrew W. LEONARD1289 was born about 1825 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA. The 1880 Census lists an Andrew Leonard, b. 1804, living with a Polly Leonard, b. 1793, and a son? Andrew W., b. 1838 with his wife Susan, b. 1855 in England, and son Stillman, 1.
