Zephaniah LEONARD⁶⁵⁷ was born on 15 January 1737 in Taunton, Bristol Co., MA.²⁷⁵ He died on 11 April 1814 at the age of 77 in Raynham, Bristol Co., MA.⁶⁵⁸ He was buried at Pleasant Street Cemetery in Town Center Cemetery, Raynham, MA.⁶⁰ His tombstone says he was born 18 Jan 1736 and died 11 Apr 1814.

Zephaniah was high sheriff of Bristol Co. for 32 years. He was succeeded by his son as sheriff. A Zephaniah Leonard was town clerk in Raynham from 1761 to 1777.

"Paul Eddy was a soldier. He was attached to a troop of horse from Taunton under the command of Zephaniah Leonard, which was sent to the frontier in 1759 to try to settle the question of the ownership of the country between the St. Lawrence and New England, which was not settled by the Treaty of Peace in 1748 (Emery, History of Taunton, p. 417)." -- Ruth Eddy, The Eddy Family in America, 1930, p. 902.

Col. Zephaniah LEONARD and Abigail ALDEN were married on 29 October 1765.⁶⁵⁹ Abigail ALDEN, daughter of David ALDEN and Judith KING, was born on 19 May 1744 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.²⁰² She died on 25 January 1845 at the age of 100 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.³³⁷ She was buried at Pleasant Street Cemetery in Town Center Cemetery, Raynham, MA.⁶⁰ She lived to be 100 years, 7 months, 28 days old.
