379. Jacob D. (or S.) LEONARD was born on 4 March 1840 in Brunswick Co., NC. He died on 21 November 1879 at the age of 39 in Brunswick Co., NC. He enlisted in Co. G, NC 20th Infantry Regiment 25 May 1861. 20th NC Infantry Company G. Private. Enlisted on May 25th, 1861 at age 21 under Captain Brooks. Reported missing of operations and casualties in the battle of Wilderness Church and Chancellorsville, Virginia on 05/02-03/1863. Was found on 05/15/1863 and taken to General Hospital #18 in Richmond, Virginia on 5/17/1863. On 05/27/1863, he was told he had to remain in the hospital for 30 days. On 06/14/1863, he was taken to General Hospital #3 in Richmond, Virginia for wounds and a face injury and furloughed for thirty days. Therefore, he was transferred home to a hospital in Wilmington, NC on 06/16/1863. After return to duty, he got a shot wound that caused a salivary fistula. A surgery was performed and recover period was several months. He returned to duty in February 1864 and was wounded ath Cold Harbor and Chancellorsville on 06/29/1864. Records indicate he may have died as a result of wounds, but it is unclear. Jacob D. (or S.) LEONARD and Armicy M. HEWETT were married on 10 April 1873 in Brunswick Co., NC. Armicy M. HEWETT, daughter of Elijah HEWETT and Abbie SIMMONS, was born on 28 February 1846 in Brunswick Co., NC. She died on 16 June 1919 at the age of 73 in Bolivia, Brunswick Co., NC. Jacob D. (or S.)
