2335. William Boardman LEONARD574 was born on 19 Jun 1820 in Oswego, NY. He died on 1 Jul 1893. He attended the public schools of Owego and Owego Academy. At the age of16, he went to Trumansburg, NY, to live with an uncle, Herman Camp, andwas employed as a clerk in his store. He later went to New York City asa salesman and afterward formed a partnership with Benjamin Pomeroy inthe wholesale dry goods business. Upon dissolution of this firm, hebecame a partner in the firm of Hulburt, Sweetser, & Co., and yet laterfounded the banking house of Leonard, Sheldon, & Co. at 10 Wall Street.He lived in Brooklyn, NY. He was one of the first board of trustees incharge of building the first Brooklyn Bridge. He was a Democrat and waschairman of the elctoral college in the Garfield-Hancock campaign.

William Boardman LEONARD and Louisa Damon BUCKLEY were married on 6 Jul 1847. Louisa Damon BUCKLEY (daughter of Andrew BUCKLEY and Sally D.) was born in 1821 in Southport, CT. She died in 1900 in Brooklyn, NY. William Boardman LEONARD and Louisa Damon BUCKLEY had the following children:
