56. Joseph LEONARD112 was born on 22 Jan 1692/93 in Taunton, Bristol Co., MA.31 He died on 4 Mar 1775 in Middleboro, Plymouth, MA. He was masterworkman at the Norton Forge, which his father started. Hewas at Raynham Forge in 1724. He is mentioned in New Bedford landrecords September 1, 1780 - Joseph Leonard of Taunton deceased haddaughter Hannah who married James Briggs.

ECL notes that he was never able to find out who Joseph's wife was. Shedied only a few months before Joseph did. ECL wanted very much to knowwho she was, for her boys "righted up" and became very respectable menand he supposes were indebted to her for their early training.

ECL notes in Plymouth Co. land records May 6, 1796, Joseph Leonard'schildren Betsey Briggs and Lucy Leonard of Middleboro sell his homesteadin Middleboro to Jonathan Leonard of Middleboro. These are children ofanother Joseph Leonard. There are a number of Joseph Leonards inMiddleboro and surrounding towns, and their records have frequently beenmixed up.

His death doesn't appear to be in Middleborough VR's. Check to see if hedied in Taunton, Raynham, or Norton.

Hannah Jennings was not his wife. Joseph Leonard3 of the Solomon Leonardline was married to Hannah Jennings.

He is listed as having 4 more children in Colonial Families of the UnitedStates, p. 332: Mary, Levi, Sylvester, Peleg. Error?

Joseph LEONARD and UNKNOWN were married in 1715 in Middleborough, MA. UNKNOWN died on 12 Feb 1775 in Taunton, MA. Joseph LEONARD and UNKNOWN had the following children:
