2508. Rev. John LOTHROP413 was born on 20 December 1584 in Etton, Yorkshire, England. He died on 8 November 1653 at the age of 68 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA. See E. B. Huntington, a Genealogical Memoir of the Lo-Lathrop Family in This Country (Ridgefield, CT, 1884).

He was baptized at Etton, Yorkshire 20 December 1584. He graduated from Cambridge University with a B.A. in 1605 and an M.A. in 1609. He became curate of the church at Egerton, county Kent, from about 1611 to 1623. In 1623 he was called to succeed Rev. Henry Jacob (who had left for Virginia) at the First Independent Church in Southwark, Surrey. Independent worship being illegal, Lothrop's services were conducted in secret. In 1632 he was imprisoned and in 1634 released on bail. He arrived in America on the Griffin in September 1634 and settled in Scituate.

Children include Thomas, John, Benjamin, Jane, and Deborah, and possibly Elizabeth, but uncertain as to mothers. Anna HAMMOND and Rev. John LOTHROP were married on 27 September 1634 in Scituate, Plymouth Co, MA.

2509. Anna HAMMOND was born on 14 July 1616 in Lavenham, Suffolk, England. She died on 25 February 1687 at the age of 70 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA. She died on 17 February 1688 at the age of 71.
