Tenth Generation


928. Thomas BUTTS was born about 1641 in Norfolk, England. He died about 1702 at the age of 61 in Little Compton, RI. Thomas emigrated from Norfolk, England and arrived in the Plymouth Colony May 18, 1660. He removed to Portsmouth where he bought four acres from Richard Hart 16 Nov 1662. On 1 Oct 1666 he bought from Richard Bulgar two acres in Portsmouth for a cow and 10 s in wampum. On 20 Nov 1668 he deeded William Earle seven acres, and he bought from Richard Earle, of Dartmouth, a quarter of a purchaser's share of meadow, an eighth share of upland, etc. in Dartmouth. On 31 Oct 1682, in Little Compton, he and James Case were to be sent for to the next court to give reason tof their being and continuance at Punckateest without liberty first obtained so to do from the government. They had rebelled on paying taxes. On 27 Oct 1685 Thomas was granted a division of land in Dartmouth, purchased of Woosamequin and Wamsutta.

His will, recorded in Taunton in December 1702, left land in Little Compton to his son Zacheus. Elizabeth LAKE and Thomas BUTTS were married in 1667 in Little Compton, RI.

929. Elizabeth LAKE was born about 1642 in Dorchester, Suffolk Co., MA. She died after 1709 at the age of 67 in Little Compton, RI.

Idido BUTTS was born about 1668. He died in 1709 at the age of 41.

Moses BUTTS was born on 30 July 1673 in Dartmouth, MA. He died in 1734 at the age of 61.

Eliashib BUTTS was born in 1676.
