Jesse BRYANT103 was born on 11 May 1746 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.16 He died on 28 October 1828 at the age of 82 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.104 He was buried in Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Middleborough, MA.105 He served in the Revolutionary War. He probably was the Jesse Bryant who served with several other Middleboro Leonards, Including Nathaniel's father, Joseph, in Capt. William Tupper's 3rd. Co. of Infantry in the Rhode Island alarms. Jesse was member "#636 (admitted Ma. 21, 1797)(Jesse Bryant, mo 366, (637)), d. Oc 26, 1828, ae. 82." The First Church of Middleboro, 1854, p. 101 ff. #637 was Mercy Shaw, "#366 was Susannah Winslow, widow James, m l732, 2nd m. 1744 to Jesse Bryant, o. Conant, mo. 102, sis 422, d. Ap 27 1801 ae 90." "#101 admitted April 8, 1722, Elizabeth Conant, w. Josiah, m. 1701 o. Washburn. These are important in establishing Jesse's line of decendency. The membership listing of membership of the First Church of Middleboro is also contained in an appendix to Thomas Weston's History of Middleboro, 1905. Jesse was Judge Oliver's foreman at the forge and slitting mill. He later lived in a house in Muttock Judge Oliver built for his son, Andrew, and daughter-in-law, Phebe Spooner. (Weston, History of the Town of Middleborough, p. 373). Jesse Bryant later bought a portion of the confiscated Tory lands formerly belonging to Peter Oliver. (p. 376) Jesse is listed in the 1790 Middleborough Census as having two males 16+, 2 males >16, and 3 females in his household. He was living next to one of the four Joseph Leonards then living in Middleborough. Mercy SHAW and Jesse BRYANT were married on 2 June 1768 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA. 35. Mercy SHAW103 was born about 1746 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA. She died on 9 January 1819 at the age of 73 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.104 She was buried in Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Middleborough, MA.105 She was in her 73rd year when she died, according to info recorded in The Corbin Collection, Vol. 3, CD by NEHGS.
