George Abraham LEONARD74 was born in 1832 in Bristol, RI.74 He died on 24 October 1890 at the age of 58 in Rhode Island.78 He was buried in PV001 - Providence, RI. 1850 Census Records: George, a blacksmith, living with his brother, John H. and Ann E. Leonard, and their infant son Alfred in Providence, RI. In 1867 Providence City Directory, he was listed as living at 124 Westminister. His death record lists him as living at Congress Street in Providence, a blacksmith by trade. He is listed as dying of malaria and cancer of the stomach and liver. He may have been a Civil War veteran.

He and Emily apparently parted company before the 1860 Census. In the 1860 Census, Emily and her son were living with her father and mother, Samuel and Mary Thomas, in Ward 4, Providence.

A Harriet Lathrop Leonard, born 26 September 1828, died 1 September 1905, buried in Coventry, was the widow of George A. Leonard. This George A. Leonard? No. Records check with RI Archives.

George Abraham LEONARD and Emily J. THOMAS were married on 22 July 1851 in Providence, RI.55 They55 were married on 22 July 1851 in Providence, RI.74 Emily J. THOMAS74, daughter of Samuel A. THOMAS and MARY, was born in 1834 in Providence, RI. In the 1860 Census, she was living with her parents, son Henry, 8, and brothers Joshua, 16, and James, 13, in the 4th Ward, Providence. She was a tailoress.

It appears she divorced George and married John E. Stearns/Sterns January 12, 1869. John was a carpenter. In 1890 Providence City Directory, he was living a 20 Sand St. in Providence. In the 1850 Census, Sterns was 18 and working as a laborer in Cumberland. He was born in Massachusetts.

The family doesn't appear in any other censuses.
