442. Charles Eddy LEONARD was born on 14 January 1884 in Bristol, RI. He died Cerebral hemorage on 16 February 1937 at the age of 53 in at his home in East Providence, R.I.. In apparent good health until time of death He was a Pharmacist, East Providence, RI, for 40 years, until 1937. Resided at: 21 Fourth Street, East Providence, R.I. . Funeral: at J.H. Williams & Co. funeral home, Taunton Ave, East Providence, R.I. . Charles was buried in East Providence, RI. At the time of the 1910 Census, he was living with his brother Walter's family at 135 Reservoir Avenue, Providence.

When registering for the World War I draft on September 12, 1918, he was residing at 35 Woodmont Street in Providence, RI, and he was working as a drug clerk for J. G. Johnston at 29 Warren Avenue, East Providence, RI. He was living with his wife, Ada G. Leonard. He was of short, slender build with gray blue eyes and light brown hair.

The 1920 Census lists the family as living with his mother, Mary E. Healey, age 55, his wife, Ada, 24, and a boarder, Charles E. Weeks, 55. Charles E. Weeks was a prominent mason. They were living at 35 Woodmont Street in Providence. In the 1930 Census, Charles E. Weeks was lodging with Mary E. Healey at 144 Laurens (corner of Orchard) Street in Cranston.

The 1930 Census has the family living at 21 Fourth Street in East Providence. HIs wife was born in New York, her father in Vermont, her mother in New York. He was a pharmacist and proprietor of a drug store located across from the square on Warren Avenue, East Providence.

Marriage December 4, 1916, to Ada Grace Wells verified AC/VR. Birth verified by viewing Bristol VR. They had no children.

"Charles E. Leonard, for 40 years engaged in the drug store business in East Providence and prominent in the Masonic fraternity, died suddenly at his home at 21 Fourth Street, East Providence, at 3 o'clock yesterday morning. He was stricken with a cerebral hemorage at 11 o'clock Sunday. Until then he apparently had been in good health.

"He was born in Bristol 52 years ago, a son of Mrs. Mary Eddy Leonard and the late John H. Leonard. The family came to East Providence when Charles was a boy, and he spent the greater part of his life in the town. He was educated in the public schools of the town. For a quarter of a century he was employed in drug stores in East Providence and the past 15 years he had been the proprietor of a drug store on Warren Avenue.

My uncle said that Charles was a 33rd degree Mason.

Charles Eddy LEONARD and Ada Grace WELLS were married on 4 December 1916 in Providence, RI.106 Ada Grace WELLS was born on 13 September 1895 in New York. She died in March 1977 at the age of 81 in New Jersey. She was buried in East Providence, RI. Ada was from Ausable Chasm, Upstate New York. Her parents owned the hotel there.

She was living in Bristol, RI, in the 1913-14 Bristol City Directory

She lived with the Angresano's in Northern New Jersey during the last years of her life. She had a cousin, Irene, living there in the 1920's.
