14. William SHAW was born (date unknown). He is listed as an optician on the marriage certificate of William Empson and Sarah Cook. He apparently married twice and had a total of 25 children, of which 13 were born to one wife, all but Sarah males.

The 1881 Census lists a William Shaw, widowed, born 1808, a former metal stamper, now a pauper, at the Parish of Birmingham Workhouse on Western Road.

There were a number of Sarah Shaws in the 1841 Census. One daughter of a William Shaw, 36, grinder, was born in 1836, mother Mary. There was a John Shaw, jeweler, 35, living in St. George, Birmingham, with wife Sarah and children, including Sarah 7 and Emma 5.

A William Shaw, b. February 1806, christened March 2, 1806, Aston juxta Birmingham, Warwick, son of Joseph Shaw and Mary. A William Shaw, son of William and Ann Shaw, born September 1, 1807, christened October 13, 1807, Saint Martin, Birmingham.
