Eighth Generation

136. Frederich BATZ was born about 1681 in Germany. He died about 1711 at the age of 30 in New York. Name spelled Batz, Potts, Batzin, Spats.

Following courtesy of Arthur Kelly, 12-24-06:

Knittle, Early Palatine Emigration, p. 260, 4th party, sailed June 21, 1709, Fred Bots, HS+V, sons, 5, 3, dau. 8, Lutheran. Also, p. 333 Gov. Hunter's Ration List, 1710, 1712: Batzin, Anna Catherine, 1-1, 1-1 (husband and 2 children had perished?).

MacWethy, "The Book of Names": p. 102, 4th list of Palatines at St. Catherine's, London, 1709 (as Batz): Potts, Fred, 18y and wife & sons, 5 y & 3 y & dau, 8 y, Lutheran. p. 120 Palatines Remaining in New York, 1710: Potts (as Batzin), Anna Catherine, 38 y, Potts, John Ludwich, 7 y.

Jones, "Even More Palatine Families":
Subsistence lists: Potts, Anna Catherine
p. 1783 - 6.30.1710 - 1 adult, 1 child
p. 1797 - 8.4.1710 - l adult, 1 child
p. 1813 - 10.4.1710 - 1 adult, 1 child
p. 1850 - 6.20.1711 - 1 adult, 1 child at Livingston Manor
p. 1869 - 9.20.1711 - 3 adults (now with Gabriel Hoffman)
p. 1833 - 12.20.1711 - 1 adult, l child

Ibid: p. 1685, Henry Beekman Account Book, 1719-1730, Potts, Ludwich, 5.1.1727 - 4.9.1730 (as Spats).

It would appear that Frederich and two of the children perished during the journey to New York or shortly after arrival. It also is worth checking as to whether the Gabriel Hoffman family had a daughter, Rebecca, who married Ludwich.
