636. Ziba LEONARD Jr. was born on 28 August 1798 in Greene Co., PA. He died on 22 October 1882 at the age of 84 in Knox Co., OH. He was buried in Martinsburg Presbyterian Cemetery. He was a carpenter living with Rebecca and son Amos in Clay twp., Knox Co., OH, at the time of the 1850 Census. He was a homebuilder, and built many of the homes in Martinsburg.

Ziba attended the first funeral and the first wedding in Knox County. The wedding was a double ceremony of his two sisters.

"Ziba Leonard, jr., now [1881] living in Martinsburgh, claims to have taught the first school. The schoolhouse was a small log cabin, on Benjamin Bell's farm. It had no floor and greased paper constituted the windows. It was in the summer when he taught this school, and neither the teacher nor any of his scholars wore any covering on their feet during the entire term.... Mr. Leonard charged one dollar and a half per scholar for tuition, and says he 'never got half of that.'"

Ziba LEONARD Jr. and Jane Cooper BEAM were married on 11 March 1819. Jane Cooper BEAM was born on 4 December 1780. She died on 18 June 1842 at the age of 61 in Knox Co., OH.

Ziba LEONARD Jr. and Jane Cooper BEAM had the following children:

1526	v.	Benoni LEONARD³³⁴ died before 1881. Can't find any further information about this Benoni. He is not to be confused with Benoni Leonard b. 7 April 1768 of Josiah Leonard and Anna Rose.
1527	vi.	Malvina LEONARD³³⁴ was born (date unknown).
1528	vii.	Martha LEONARD³³⁴ was born on 12 May 1821.
1529	viii.	Nina LEONARD was born on 1 April 1828.

Ziba LEONARD Jr. and Rebecca MCCANLESS were married on 4 March 1843. Rebecca MCCANLESS³³⁶ was born on 23 April 1810 in OH. She died on 20 April 1884 at the age of 73.
