542. Ziba LEONARD was born on 13 October 1756 in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., MA.¹⁴¹ He died on 7 July 1845 at the age of 88 in Ashfield, MA. He joined a company of Minutemen commanded by James Allen and was active at the time of the siege of Boston. He was an apprentice in carpentry with James Allen. He was at Little Compton and Howland's Ferry in charge of boats conveying soldiers from the island of Rhode Island at the time of the battle of Quaker's Hill. He was captured on a merchant ship and carried to Charleston in 1779. DAR.

He and his wife resided in Buckland, MA. They removed to Ashfield, MA, in 1808.

Ziba LEONARD and Chloe SHAW were married on 5 May 1783 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA. Chloe SHAW was born on 24 August 1764 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.²⁸⁴ She died on 10 August 1840 at the age of 75 in Ashfield, MA.
