Seventh Generation

1112. Charles Johnson LEONARD²⁴⁵ was born on 8 January 1830 in Ashtabula, Ashtabula Co., OH. He enlisted in the Union army, but afterwards procured a substitute. For years he was engaged in the merchantile business in Denmark, MI and was postmaster there from 1867 to 1873. He owned a large farm at Denmark and resided at Vassar, MI. He had an adopted son, Albert Warner, b. May 1874, but no children of his own.

Charles Johnson LEONARD and Eliza C. HUBBARD were married on 5 April 1858. Eliza C. HUBBARD, daughter of Reuben HUBBARD and Polly L. , was born on 24 June 1837 in Harpersfield, Ashtabula Co., OH. She died on 6 July 1922 at the age of 85 in Tuscola Co., MI. She was buried at Block B, lot 30, Riverside, Vassar twp., in Tuscola Co., MI.
