435. Jesse LEONARD115 was born on 11 March 1793 in Charlemont, MA. He died on 17 July 1871 at the age of 78 in Peru, Huron Co., OH. By trade he was a tanner, currier, and shoemaker. In 1825, he emigrated to Lyons, NY, with his family. In 1826 he joined the Shaker Society, then located at Sodus, NY, and later removed with the society to Mt. Morris, Livingston Co., NY. His connection with the Society continued until 10 July 1867. For 30 years he was said to have been president of the Society. His sons withdrew from the Society in 1839, and his wife in 1841. "He was a stalwart athlete, six feet two inches in height and famed as a pedestrian." He died at the home of his brother Jonas in Peru, OH.
