78. Jemima LEONARD31 was born on 8 May 1717 in Dighton, Bristol Co., MA. She died in 1807 at the age of 90 in Mendham, Morris Co., NJ. Jemima was noted for her beauty, wit and sense of humour. Upon their arrival at Elizabethtown, then the port of entry, they stoppped at an Inn, where the innkeepers son was much smitten with Jemima. He asked if he might wait upon her that evening. She replied that she would see what her husband said about it when he came.

She died at the home of Japhet Byram, a mile north of the village of Mendham.

Jemima LEONARD and Henry AXTELL were married in March 1737. Henry AXTELL31, son of Daniel AXTELL and Thankful PRATT, was born on 24 June 1715 in Berkley, Bristol Co., MA. He died in 1754 at the age of 39 in Mendham, Morris Co., NJ. He was a blacksmith by trade. He moved from Massachusetts to Mendham in 1740.

According to Jennie Leonard Hutchinson, Henry decided after the birth of their second child to move into the wilderness of New Jersey, along with his father-in-law, Benjamin Leonard.

Squire Matthew LUM was born about 1707. He died on 21 May 1777 at the age of 70 in Morris Co., NJ.
