23. Silas P. LEONARD was born on 23 December 1823 in Morris Co., NJ. He died on 5 December 1895 at the age of 71 in Passaic, Morris County, NJ. According to O. B. Leonard in "Stephen Banks Leonard" p. 102, they had 8 children. In the 1850 Census, Silas was a farmer living in Morris, Morris Co., with his wife and daughter.

In the 1870 Census, Silas and his wife and children were living in Passaic, Morris Co., NJ, with their 8 children.

Samuel Leeson Leonard, eminent biologist, discoverer of oestrogen, which prevented pregnancy in rats and led to the development of birth control pills, was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on November 27, 1905 and died on November 12, 2007. He was probably a descendant of this family.

Silas P. LEONARD and Sarah M. LEESON were married on 19 October 1847 in Passaic, Morris County, NJ. Sarah M. LEESON was born on 4 January 1830 in Morris Co., NJ. She died on 5 December 1891 at the age of 61 in Passaic, Morris County, NJ.

Silas P. LEONARD and Sarah M. LEESON had the following children:

49	viii.	Alice A. LEONARD was born about 1869. She was of Green Village, NJ, when she supplied information on Silas and his father, Samuel, in her line.
50	ix.	Silas H. LEONARD was born about 1872 in NJ. SBL: He lived in Rahway, NJ.
