First Generation

1. Patrick LEONARD was born in 1740 in County Down, Ireland. He was baptized on 1 May 1741 in Rousay and Egilshay, Scotland. He died on 11 August 1822 at the age of 82 in Campbell Co., KY. He served in the French and Indian War. He arrived in America with General Amherst at age 18.

Patrick LEONARD and Margaret Delaney THOMPSON were married on 21 February 1765 in Christ Church, Shrewsbury twp., Monmouth Co. NJ. This marriage record is suspect. Neither show any evidence of having been in NJ. Most Leonards in Shrewsbury were descendants of Henry Leonard. Margaret Delaney THOMPSON was born before 1750. She died in 1816 at the age of 66 in Huntingdon, PA.

Patrick LEONARD and Margaret Delaney THOMPSON had the following children:

2	i.	James LEONARD died before 12 January 1835 in Pittsburgh, Allegany Co., PA. This should be checked out -- there were other Leonards in Pittsburgh at this time.
