He was a consistent Democrat in politics, a regular attendant of the Methodist Episcopal Church, although he was a believer in universal salvation. According to data given to Lois Badger by the mother of Harriotte Leonard Standish, Ebenezer had 12 children, but census and other records mention only those named. He was born in Raynham, moved to Taunton when he was 16, and was a farmer. Ebenezer LEONARD Jr. and Mary Jane HANLEY were married on 29 November 1835 in New Bedford, Bristol Co., MA. Mary Jane HANLEY, daughter of James HENLEY and Mary BARNSTABLE, was born on 26 October 1817 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA.
