2022. Rev. Samuel LEONARD2028 was born on 25 October 1776 in Taunton, Bristol Co., MA. He died on 19 April 1867 at the age of 90 in Chesterfield, MI. He was born in Taunton, moved to Lee, MA, then to Poultney, VT, then to MI. He received a diploma from Williams College. He was a minister at Poultney, VT. Congregational church records there record 30 September 1802 "voted unaninously to give Rev. Mr. Leonard a call to preach on probation" and 6 December "gave a unanimous call to the Rev. Samuel Leonard to settled with them and labor on half of the time for the present." Mr. Leonard's pastorate continued for a period of 18 years. At his own request he was dismissed from the pastorate June 1821. He later moved to Chesterfield, Michigan. In the 1850 Census, he was a clergyman, 78, living in Clinton, Macomb Co., Michigan, with wife Cynthia, 68. He apparently resided in Evans, Erie Co., NY for a while -- listed in obituary records there. He was 85 years old when he died.

Rev. Samuel LEONARD and Cynthia BABCOCK were married on 4 May 1802 in Chatham, Columbia Co., NY. Cynthia BABCOCK was born about 1782 in Chatham, Columbia Co., NY. She died in 1857 at the age of 75 in New Baltimore, MI.
