He died on 2 January 1862 at the age of 61 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.³³⁷ In the 1850 Census, James A., 50, was a manufacturer living in Middleborough with his wife, Lucy T., 38, and children, James A., Jr., 19, Charles, 15, George, 12, Mary 10, Lucius, 8, and Lewis, 1. "He and his son manufactured boots and shoes until the death of Mr. Leonard in 1870 (sic), doing business in abuilding adjoining Mr. Leonard's residence on Center Street (Middleborough)." James Allen LEONARD and Lucy Thompson SHAW were married on 15 May 1832 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.⁸⁷² Lucy Thompson SHAW, daughter of Charles SHAW and Lucy Thomas THOMPSON, was born on 26 March 1812 in Bristol, RI. She died on 30 November 1855 at the age of 43 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.³³⁷
