2732. Nehemiah Allen LEONARD2570 was born on 8 January 1825 in Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA. He died on 7 November 1890 at the age of 65 in Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. He was a graduate of Brown University. He was an attorney at law, firm of Leonard and Wells in Springfield. He became Presidient of the Connecticut River Railroad. He was also President of the Springfield Common Council. He was District Attorney for the Hampden-Berkshire District.
Nehemiah Allen LEONARD and Clara Temple CHAPMAN were married on 3 August 1854. Clara Temple CHAPMAN, daughter of Henry CHAPMAN and Clara TEMPLE, was born in 1829 in Greenfield, Franklin Co., MA. She died in Springfield, Hampden Co., MA. She was the first woman member of the State Board of Charities. She was instrumental in the defeat of Benjamin Butler as Governor when he attempted to attack the state institutions.
