624. Benajah LEONARD766,767 was born on 21 July 1765 in Middleborough, Plymouth Co, MA.71 He died on 6 August 1815 at the age of 50 in Wareham, MS. He and his brothers Ichabod and Rowland built the dam at Tremont, the old Washington works. He apparently built a furnace there, per documents at OCHS. ECL says he was a Quaker and he died of lockjaw.

Benajah LEONARD and Deborah MAXHAM were married on 1 January 1792 in Carver, Plymouth Co., MA. Deborah MAXHAM, daughter of Jabez MAXHAM and Anna SHURTLEFF, was born on 22 February 1773 in Plympton, Plymouth Co., MA. She died on 11 April 1847 at the age of 74 in Wareham, MS. Deborah was administrator of Benajah's estate, per a notice in the New Bedford Mercury, 11-24-1815, Issue 18, page 4.
